Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes he gets the best out of Romelu Lukaku because he knows the player’s strengths.
The Belgian was most recently praised for his fantastic match-winning brace against Southampton on Saturday as he becomes the latest player to be improved under the Norwegian.
Solskjaer’s arrival has seen an upturn in form for many United players with arguably just Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez remaining.
Some believed the pair would never regain their form but it’s clear the striker has found himself once again unlike the Chilean.
With the clash against PSG just around the corner, many will be hoping they can rely once again on Romelu’s natural goalscoring instinct to put the French side to the sword.
According to Manchester Evening News, Ole said: “His [Lukaku] strengths are going towards goal, finishing, running in behind and of course, when we get him too deep in the pitch, maybe that doesn’t suit him at times.”
Fans often became frustrated with Lukaku due to his inability to hold the ball up or due to his poor first touch during Jose Mourinho’s tenure.
However, the Portuguese manager is guilty of trying to turn the former Everton man into something he is not.
Romelu was asked to be a target-man due to his natural size but the truth is it’s simply a role he’s incapable of doing.
The clinical forward is far better when facing the opposition goal but there are those who believe that isn’t enough from a Manchester United striker.
