Manchester United fans would’ve been understandably frustrated with their 2-0 loss to Arsenal yet the majority appeared to be optimistic nonetheless.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men couldn’t follow up their historic win against PSG with three points at the Emirates which unfortunately sees them slide back down to fifth place.
The race for the top four has been relentless for United who were always chasing the rest of the pack and there’s now just eight games remaining.
Solskjaer watched on helplessly as David de Gea conceded, rather poorly, from Granit Xhaka’s swerving shot before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted from the penalty spot.
Many supporters felt the Gunners were a little lucky with their efforts, particularly the penalty but also felt their side should’ve been more clinical in front of goal.
You can’t win them all. We were seriously unlucky today with the manner of both goals. We weren’t clinical enough in front of goal either. It happens. FA Cup quarter final next week. One game away from Wembley. We move on and look to bounce back. #mufc

So Solskjaer’s remarkable run comes to an end.
And it only required De Gea diving the wrong way from a simple shot, Lukaku missing three sitters and Fred needlessly bringing down Lacazatte to do it #mufc— James Robson (@jamesrobsonES) March 10, 2019
First defeat under Ole in the league since he’s been appointed, player football which we enjoy, getting the best out of the players and just two points of the top 4.

When #MUFC appointed Solskjaer on December 19th I think they would have been more than happy that his first league defeat would not come until March 10th. This was a blip amid incredible progress.

The Red Devils never seemed to get going and things never seemed to go their way at a time their luck couldn’t afford to run out.
A win against Arsenal would’ve seen Ole’s men get level with Tottenham in third which would’ve given them a stronghold in the race for a top four spot.
Though there is still a few games to turn the tide again, Manchester United have to pick themselves up quickly as there’s time to sulk.
