Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has urged Eden Hazard to stay at the club and ‘make his own story’ at Stamford Bridge.
The former Blues striker was in attendance as his former side were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea were on the verge of a disastrous defeat after Raul Jimenez opened the scoring for the visitors. However, Hazard scored from outside the box to level the game in stoppage time.
Drogba was quizzed on whether he feels the Belgian international should remain at the club or not in the summer, with a move to Real Madrid still touted as a possibility.
Speaking to Omnisport, as cited in a report from FourFourTwo, the Ivorian said:
Why [should he leave]? I think he can have this [success] here in Chelsea.
You know, I had many opportunities to leave and I decided to stay to make my own story and win the Champions League here. I think he’s got a chance to make his own story.
This club is still young and we need people like him to improve the quality in terms of Champions League trophies in the room, he can help us.
I will be very happy if he stays here, but if he goes to Madrid, good luck to him.
Hazard has been an important player for Maurizio Sarri’s team this season. From 28 appearances in the Premier League, he has scored 13 goals and assisted others on 11 occasions.
Chelsea will be determined to retain the services of their talisman, especially with a transfer ban in place for the upcoming two windows.
