Tiemoue Bakayoko has criticised Chelsea, claiming those at the top wanted him gone, rather than Maurizio Sarri.
Bakayoko endured a tough time of things after arriving from Monaco with a big reputation in 2017.
His performances consistently failed to convince and playing time increasingly failed to come his way.
Eventually, Bakayoko was shipped out on loan to AC Milan, where he is currently thriving.
Although some believed Sarri had no interest in keeping hold of the midfielder, Bakayoko says it was those above the manager who wanted him out.
Speaking to France Football, he believes he was never given a fair crack of the whip:
I think it came from above. The club weren’t doing well, wanted change, and I was a part of it.
Sarri arrived, and he was told that’s how things were. He also brought in his midfielder, Jorginho.
A second season at Chelsea could have allowed me to settle, but I felt the need to leave.
Chelsea are playing hardball and looking for £35million from Milan if they want to sign Bakayoko permanently.
He is thought to be keen on signing for Milan for good, with his Chelsea career looking over.
The key now is whether or not the two clubs can agree a fee, allowing the player to move on.
