Chelsea will reportedly be able to complete the permanent signing of Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer.
Higuain arrived at Stamford Bridge from his loan at AC Milan in January on a temporary basis, but Chelsea have the option to buy him for £31m this summer.
That clause was in doubt though, after FIFA imposed a transfer ban on the club until January 2020 over breaking rules when signing foreign under-18 players.
However, Tuttosport claim the Blues should be able to sign Higuain on a permanent basis or renew his loan at the end of the season.
Why? Because it would not require a new registration on FIFA’s Transfer Matching System, meaning Maurizio Sarri is unlikely to face a major attacking dilemma.
FIFA said it found breaches in 29 cases of 92 investigated into Chelsea, including the signing of striker Bertrand Traore, now representing Lyon.
The charge came with a fine worth £460,000, while the Football Association were also fined £390,000.
Chelsea sent Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid on an 18-month loan as Higuain joined and it’s unclear whether they’d be able to recall him if the Argentine’s permanent move fell through.
If not, the options for the 2019-20 season would be 32-year-old Olivier Giroud and promising Championship loanee Tammy Abraham, so this comes as good news for all involved with the club.
