Ashley Young and Ander Herrera are both in line to agree one-year contract extensions with Manchester United, according to reports.
Both players have been free to speak with other clubs since January, with their existing deals set to expire in June.
But the pair have enjoyed a strong campaign so far, playing a crucial role during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s successful opening ten games as Man United caretaker manager.
And according to the Telegraph‘s James Ducker, negotiations with Young begun late last year and the 33-year-old is expected to sign an extension keeping him at the club until the end of next season.
Young’s performances at right-back this season have been solid, and his popularity in the dressing room – he is the official dressing room DJ – constitutes added reason to keep him at the club.
Herrera has been offered a new deal, and according to Ducker, seems “certain” to stay at Old Trafford. He may be from the Basque country but Manchester is certainly home for the Spaniard, who many believe should be club captain.
Juan Mata was likewise offered a new deal by United but is more reluctant to sign a 12-month extension, with other clubs expressing interest in his services.
