Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing young Ajax winger Justin Kluivert to Old Trafford in the summer, according to reports.
The boss was seen talking to the teenager, son of former Barcelona forward Patrick, following the Europa League final last year, but it was denied that the conversation had anything to do with Manchester United.
Kluivert, who has 11 goals in 36 appearances this season, made it clear earlier in the season that he was focused on getting minutes under his belt at Ajax.
However, according to the Guardian‘s Jamie Jackson and Jacob Steinberg, Mourinho is keen to take advantage of contract talks with Ajax breaking down in recent weeks, and could lodge a bid for the talented winger.
Kluivert’s agent, Mino Raiola, is no stranger to United having sold them Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba in recent years. He is likewise no stranger to squeezing every penny possible out of deals and causing mischief in the process.
Such is the case at Ajax at the moment. Raiola is demanding his client’s wages rise to €1.5m (£1.3m) a year and a sizeable proportion of any future transfer fee to be split between himself and Kluivert.
The Dutch side are reluctant to countenance such a package, paving the way for Mourinho to launch a bid in the summer.
