If reports are to be believed, Maurizio Sarri’s job security is anything but stable as Chelsea head into a busy few days.
The Blues have the task of facing Manchester City in the League Cup Final this weekend, followed by a clash with Tottenham in the Premier League in midweek.
City recently hammered Chelsea 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium, which does not bode well ahead of the cup final, but games between The Blues and Spurs have been closely fought.
Spurs won the league game at Wembley 3-1, whilst the League Cup clash between the two bitter rivals saw Chelsea advance after a penalty shootout.
Whatever happens on Sunday, the game against Spurs is a huge encounter as Chelsea look to regain some momentum in the race for a top four finish.
Chelsea are currently a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who knocked the Blues out of the FA Cup earlier this week, but that gap could grow if United avoid defeat at home to Liverpool on Sunday.
Whilst Chelsea’s recent form has been pretty poor, Tottenham go into the game in great spirits. They’ve won three games on the spin, including an amazing 3-0 Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund, so those who like to take part in online betting might just fancy an away win.
Tottenham will also be boosted by the news that captain, and star striker, Harry Kane should be fit to take part in the game following his recent lay off due to an ankle injury.
If Sarri’s job is seriously under threat, a win over Spurs is certainly one way to curry favour with the Chelsea supporters.
However, a loss at home will not be tolerated by some fans and if the boos ring around Stamford Bridge once more, then the board may decide to act, ending the Sarri-Ball experiment before it had a chance to really take off.
