Gianfranco Zola is backing loan signing Gonzalo Higuain to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge.
Higuain joins Chelsea off the back of a mixed first half of the season on loan at Milan.
The Argentinian failed to impress consistently at the San Siro, scoring six league goals.
However, he has been given a fresh start in London after being chosen as the man to lead the line for Sarri’s Chelsea during the second half of the campaign.
Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s game against Sheffield Wednesday, in which Higuain could make his debut, Zola is quoted by the Independent saying:
He’s a player who can score in many ways so we hope that he can bring his qualities to this team – at this moment it is very much necessary.
He’s coming late, but he’s coming in a team that plays a system he knows very well, so this is a big advantage.
Here there are the type of players who will help him to do what he can do best. The conditions are good.
Both Zola and Sarri will be hoping that Higuain can impress. The striker watched on from the sidelines on Thursday night, seeing his new team beat Tottenham to reach the final of the Carabao Cup.
He showed he has not taken long to settle in at Stamford Bridge as he enjoyed the celebrations at full-time with the rest of the squad.
