Former Chelsea defender Ashely Cole has confirmed his plans to retire after his spell at Derby County.
Cole made an eye-catching move back to England earlier in the January window, joining up with his former Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard at Derby.
The 38-year-old had been playing in the MLS but has opted to finish his career in England, as he aims to help Lampard and the rest of the Derby squad push for promotion to the Premier League.
Speaking to BBC Radio Derby, Cole admitted that his time at Pride Park would be his last hurrah.
Probably, after this season, it’s going to be Ashley Cole finished. I still love it, but the body can’t handle it.
Even if Cole is unable to add promotion from the Championship to his list of achievements, he has enjoyed a stellar career.
The left-back has three Premier League trophies to his name, while also boasting seven FA Cup winners’ medals, one League Cup, one Europa League and of course the Champions League.
