Jose Mourinho is disappointed with the options presented to him by Manchester United’s scouting department ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports.
The boss is said to be deeply upset with Ed Woodward’s decision to ignore his wishes for a central defender over the summer.
He has been reportedly told by the board that he will be given financial backing to go out an improve his squad over the January transfer window. ESPN, however, have recently claimed that the club would veto any signings which do not promise a long-term benefit.
And according to the Metro‘s Sean Kearns, Mourinho is not happy with the options tabled for him by the club’s scouting department and wants to use his meeting with Ed Woodward this week to put forward his own candidates ahead of the January transfer window.
Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic has emerged as a primary target for the Portuguese, who travelled to watch him in action for Serbia last month.
AC Milan’s Alessio Romangoli is another defender Mourinho likes, but the boss cannot be overly convinced he will get what he wants. The club did not back him anywhere near enough in the summer. Why would they do it in January, a time when transfers are even harder to complete?
