Manchester United star Ashley Young is reportedly willing to take a pay cut if it means staying at his current club for the near future.
The Englishman is said to be in talks over a new deal much to the disappointment of some of the club’s fanbase.
A section of United supporters are frustrated that the club is willing to extend the full-back’s contract despite failing to tie down the likes of David de Gea or Anthony Martial who are considered to be higher priorities.
Young has recently been heavily involved in the club’s matches of late, even consistently captaining them in Antonio Valencia‘s absence.
With the turn of the year just around the corner, it’s clear the Old Trafford hierarchy are hoping to extend some of their stars’ contracts so there’s no risk of losing them for free.
According to Sports Mole, The Sun report that Ashley is willing to cut back his wages from £130k a week to just under £100k a week in order to extend his stay with the Red Devils beyond the next summer.
It does show the former Watford man’s commitment to the club and to Jose Mourinho but perhaps he knows if he leaves, there’s only going to be a downgrade considering his age.
