AC Milan have been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea man Cesc Fabregas in recent times and according to a report from Calciomercato, the Serie A giants are stepping up their pursuit of the player.
Fabregas has been utilised only as a rotational option by Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri this season, prompting claims that he could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in January.
Sarri has utilised Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and N’Golo Kante as his main midfield players this term, leaving Fabregas with a limited role.
The 31-year-old’s contract with the Blues will expire at the end of the season, should the club opt against offering him a renewal, indicating that they could cash-in on Fabregas in the upcoming transfer window.
Milan are on the lookout for a new central midfielder and Calciomercato have claimed that the club’s sporting director Leonardo is holding meetings with intermediaries as he looks to recruit Fabregas.
The Spaniard has made only three appearances in the Premier League this season, with all of these coming from the bench.
