Gremio striker and Manchester United target Everton Soares has admitted he would consider a move to Manchester United over the summer transfer window.
Both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez have drastically under-performed in the No.9 role since the start of the season, prompting some supporters to suggest splashing out on new firepower up top.
And according to ESPN, Man United are monitoring the process of Soares, who has scored 17 goals this year.
When asked about a potential move, the Gremio striker – also capable of playing on the left – refused to rule out the prospect of a Premier League move.
“We all hear the rumours at some point, right?,” he said.
“I’m going through an exceptional phase, and we know how hard it is when clubs from England look at Brazilian players, for their quality.
“Let’s see what happens at the end of the season, wait until it is over, and see what’s best both for me and Gremio.”
Gremio was, of course, the club which gave the world Anderson – and Ronaldinho, I guess. Douglas Costa, Gilberto Silva and Arthur Melo are among other notable graduates.
In other words, Gremio has always been a successful feeder club for European sides, although Man United, for whatever reason, appear incapable of tapping into the lucrative market of Brazilian talent.
Perhaps Soares – largely unknown at the moment – will be the one who breaks that trend.
