Manchester United veteran Antonio Valencia could end up leaving the club for free next summer according to reports.
The Ecuadorian’s contract expires next year meaning foreign clubs can approach him starting from January.
The right-back is the current United captain but appears to be in the twilight of his career.
Jose Mourinho has already attempted to replace Valencia by bringing in his heir in the shape of Diogo Dalot last summer.
However, fans didn’t quite expect him to be leaving right away though they may not have much choice.
According to the Mirror, the Sun report that the Red Devils have to commit to a contract extension by the first of March or risk losing Antonio for free, especially with clubs from Germany and Turkey lurking.
This all depends on whether the interested clubs have already made an approach for him by then or not.
It’s more likely Manchester United will have to make a decision before the winter transfer window begins.
Valencia has done well enough to reinvent himself and succeed but it is clear he’s now past his prime.
The former winger hasn’t looked anywhere near his best with supporters keen on seeing more of Dalot in recent matches.
