Chelsea’s hierarchy are said to be “angry and deeply embarrassed” following the behaviour of Maurizio Sarri’s backroom staff towards Jose Mourinho during their 2-2 draw with Manchester United over the weekend, according to Sky Sports.
Ross Barkley preserved Chelsea’s unbeaten record this season with a 96th minute goal after Anthony Martial‘s brace had given Man United an unexpected second half lead.
Sarri’s assistant, Marco Ianni, deliberately and provocatively celebrated right in front of Mourinho, who promptly leapt out of his seat to confront the Chelsea bench, prompting the home fans to chant “f*ck off Mourinho”.
According to Sky, Chelsea representatives deeply regret the way Mourinho, their most successful manager, was treated at Stamford Bridge.

There were many rooting for Ianni when he stuck it to Mourinho but, from a global and more general perspective, to see fans and staff disrespecting the manager who made their club relevant in such a way painted Chelsea as a classless, sordid club who lack the respect Sarri said Mourinho deserved before the game.
Respect has to be mutual. Mourinho was respectful before, during and after the game. But he did not receive it back. Sarri, acutely aware of this, made it clear the situation would be resolved internally. And it was. Nothing, however, will remedy the fact that Chelsea do not behave like a big club.
