Reports suggest that Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi could be in line for a call-up to the French National Team (via Sport Witness).
He’s been the breakout star of the season at Arsenal and it seems as if Matteo Guendouzi’s career could soon make the next major step.
The Frenchman was playing Ligue 2 football last season but moved to the Gunners in the summer in a reported £7 million deal.
The 19-year-old surprised everyone when he became a starting midfielder for the Gunners and has put in a string of impressive performances.
Now, it seems as if he has attracted the attention of Didier Deschamps who is reportedly considering calling Guendouzi up to the French National Team.
Deschamps won the World Cup with France just a few months ago and has a gap in his squad following the injury to Bayern Munich man, Corentin Tolisso.
Guendouzi is eligible to play for Morocco but an appearance for France in either their upcoming friendly against Iceland or the UEFA Nations League match against Germany will secure his future for France. This is a blessed generation of French footballers and Matteo Guendouzi will do well to get a place in the squad.
