Napoli are eyeing alternative options to Chelsea target Krzysztof Piatek ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports from Italy.
It’s claimed by Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Calciomercato, that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are keen to sign Piatek from Genoa but are exploring other avenues as they bid to sign a new striker in January.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a swoop for Piatek, who leads the way as Serie A’s top goalscorer at this early stage of the season.
Maurizio Sarri’s side are believed to be keen on adding extra firepower to their ranks ahead of the second half of the campaign, with Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud struggling to score freely.
Napoli’s interest in recruiting Piatek has been well documented but new claims from Italy indicate that the European giants are setting their sights on contingency plans, in case they fail to land the Polish international.
Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz is listed as a potential target, whilst Ajax forward Kasper Dolberg is also reportedly on Napoli’s radar.
