Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has urged England boss Gareth Southgate to recall Ross Barkley to the national team squad, according to a report on the Evening Standard.
Barkley has put in some impressive performances for Chelsea so far this season and looks like he has got his confidence and form back.
Sarri believes that Barkley has the quality to help Chelsea push for a top-four finish and maybe a title challenge this season and has given him valuable game time so far this term.
On Thursday, Southgate will name his squad for the UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain later this month and Sarri believes Barkley should be on the list.
He said:
I think so because he is improving every week. I think he can improve more because he has the potential to improve more and so I think that he can return in the national team.
Is he playing enough? I think so. He has played more than the last season in two months. He had a very serious injury one year ago.
I think he can improve from the tactical point of view, from the physical point of view. He is very good from the technical point of view so I think he can become a very good player.
