Chelsea’s youngsters have smashed a European record during their stunning 10-1 victory in the UEFA Youth League.
The London Evening Standard reports that the Blues are now the highest scoring team in the competition following its launch in 2013.
Real Madrid had been far and away the highest scorers in the UEFA Youth League with 116 goals to their name, a figure which Chelsea have now surpassed.
Joe Edwards’ side eased past Molde on Wednesday night afternoon, with Billy Gilmour and Daishawn Redan both scoring hat-tricks in what was an emphatic performance by the club’s youngsters.
Charlie Brown and George McEachran were also on the scoresheet, while Molde’s Thor Olav Moe scored an own goal.
Had Anders Iversen not scored the visitors’ only goal of the game, then the Blues would have also secured the record for the biggest winning margin for a home team, bettering Real Madrid’s 10-1 win against APOEL from the previous season.
