Jose Mourinho has put to bed speculation claiming he was lining up a January bid to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to Manchester United.
The Swede, who scored 27 goals in his opening campaign at Old Trafford, joined LA Galaxy in March having failed to return to his best after a knee operation in April 2017.
He has duly made an impact in the MLS, scoring an impressive 22 goals in 26 matches and claiming six assists in the process.
Reports have recently suggested that Mourinho was exploring the possibility of a Zlatan return, but when asked about whether it could happen in today’s press conference, Mourinho very simply said “no”.

There is some sense in the idea of reinserting the talismanic, warrior-like dressing room influence commanded by the striker which proved so crucial in United’s opening campaign under Mourinho – especially at a time when the team feels so bereft of confidence and ideas.
But it would not be any kind of answer to United’s on-pitch struggles. Mourinho’s team, above all, lacks speed and unpredictability when going forward. Bringing in a 37-year-old who struggled at this level a year ago will not, by any stretch, provide a lasting solution to a much bigger problem at Old Trafford.
