Real Madrid’s board want Jose Mourinho to replace current manager Julen Lopetegui, according to reports from Spain.
Mourinho managed the European champions for three seasons between 2010 and 2013, winning a La Liga title and Copa del Rey before departing the club on mutual consent following the 2012/13.
Madrid’s current boss, Lopetegui, is under enormous pressure having lost four of his last five games alongside going 482 minutes without a goal – their worst record in 33 years.
And according to Spanish media outlet El Chiringuito, Real Madrid have lined up Mourinho as the man to replace Lopetegui when his position as manager becomes untenable.

You are probably wondering who El Chiringuito are, and whether they are reliable.
The answer: not really. They are, at best, hit and miss when it comes to big news like this.
That said, they were one of the first to break news about Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus over the summer and are more informed about Madrid than any other club.
Either way, the move would make no sense. Madrid are not the kind of club to appoint past managers and United, despite a poor start to the season, are not prepared to let Mourinho leave any time soon.
