Sir Alex Ferguson received a hero’s welcome on his first appearance back at Old Trafford since suffering a brain haemorrhage in May.
The football world was rocked by news that Ferguson had undergone emergency surgery at Salford Royal Hospital after collapsing in his home.
He has recovered well and posted a video over the summer thanking medical professionals who helped him, and assured Manchester United supporters he would be back at Old Trafford soon.
And the Boss was back at his old stomping ground to watch his former team draw 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Before that, though, Old Trafford saluted the managerial legend, and it makes the hairs stand up on your skin.

On a day when the football was dire – and the old problems of the Mourinho regime resurfaced and ruined your entire day – this was a moment to cherish, to remind you that football, funnily enough, does not matter as much as it can seem at times.
This was the real story of the day: United’s greatest ever manager, four months after a life-threatening affliction, back smiling and pumping his fists at Old Trafford. Regardless of who you support, this man ought to be regarded as a legend.
