Manchester United have offered Alexis Sanchez to AS Roma on loan this season and are prepared to pay a substantial amount of the Chilean’s wages, according to a report from Italy.
The forward, who joined from Arsenal in January 2018, has been an unmitigated disaster for United, whose decision to hand him £400,000 a week – a bad thing for myriad reasons – has been repaid with terrible performance after terrible performance in a red shirt.
Sanchez missed a lot of last season due to injury and is yet to link up with his Man United teammates in training after having an extended break following the Copa America, where he actually played quite well.
According to RomaPress, the club recently confirmed to the publication that an offer to loan Alexis to Rome for the 2019-20 season has been made by United, with the latter ready to subsidise a decent portion of his wages.
However, money remains a potential stumbling block for Roma in spite of United’s financial help. The club made a truly gargantuan mistake making a 30-year-old who Arsene Wenger no longer wanted their highest earner.
As for a future solution, a permanent one, well, United will probably have to wait until Alexis is ready for a move to China.
