Manchester United star Victor Lindelof has revealed why his side failed to defeat Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho’s men initially led the match after a fine effort from Fred but lost their lead in the second half.
With plenty of time still on the clock to grab all three points, United couldn’t secure a win despite all their efforts.
Lindelof has consistently started alongside Chris Smalling in defence over the past few games but the pair couldn’t keep a clean sheet.
To be fair to them however, there was little they or David de Gea could do against Joao Moutinho’s rocket of a goal.
According to Manchester Evening News, Victor said to MUTV: “We wanted to win and we wanted the three points, but that is football, it wasn’t our day today.
“We tried, they defended well and they really fought well out there. I think we lacked a little thing in the end, you know the killer instinct in the box. But like I said it wasn’t our day today.”
There was a concern following Lindelof and Eric Bailly’s absence from one of the match day squads it would be the end of the former’s career but it hasn’t quite turned out that way.
Mourinho turned back to the Swede after he wasn’t impressed enough with Smalling and Phil Jones‘ partnership either.
Now it seems as though it’s Bailly who is struggling with getting into the starting XI while Victor enjoys a run of matches.
The hope was the Ivorian and the former Benfica man could form a solid partnership for years to come but fans will have to remain patient on that.
