Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has claimed that midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will get his chance for the club.
Sarri has said that Loftus-Cheek is unlikely to start against PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday, but he will get his chance in the future.
Loftus-Cheek has been patiently waiting for his first start of the season for Chelsea, after he impressed for England in spells at the World Cup.
The talented midfielder spent last season on loan to Crystal Palace in the Premier League – where he showed that he is capable of competing at this level.
N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho are Sarri’s current preferred midfield three, with Cesc Fabregas also on the bench awaiting his opportunity.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Sarri said this:
Loftus for me is a very good player. But I don’t know if there is a spot for him on Thursday. Of course there will be a spot for him in the future.
In the first part of the season it’s very important to play possibly with the same players.
I have to change four, five players, but it’s impossible in this moment of a season to change 11 players for a match.
Loftus-Cheek may not start against PAOK but he could get his chance to impress off the bench.
