Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis is reportedly set to stay at the club with AC Milan set to give up their pursuit (via Sky Sports).
It was one of the strangest transfer stories of the summer but reports suggest that AC Milan’s pursuit of an Arsenal board member is over.
The Italian side was apparently keen on signing Arsenal’s Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis to become a part of their hierarchy.
For a long time, Gazidis was seemingly close to turning his back on Arsenal despite the supposed power struggle with Arsene Wenger at board level.
Gazidis was said to be offered up to €4 million/year to sign for the Italian side which was keen on increasing its commercial revenue.
However, it seems that Gazidis made a number of additional demands that Milan have refused and the deal has broken down.
It’s an interesting story but it’s difficult to say whether this is good or bad news for Arsenal. It’s hard to say just how good Ivan Gazidis is at his job but he’s going to be doing at Arsenal for some time to come.
