<!—Article Start–>Paul Scholes has questioned the Manchester United players’ attitude throughout this season after the Reds were once again humiliated in the Premier League.
A 3-1 defeat at West Ham United’s London Stadium was yet another blow to the mood at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho’s side have been terrible throughout the season but Saturday lunchtime’s showing was another level.
Marcus Rashford finished well from a corner in the second half to get Man United back in the game at 2-0, but the Reds’ woeful defence allowed the hosts to score again and secure the result just three minutes later.
It was a shambles from start to finish, and Scholes put that down to the United players’ poor attitude.
“It was probably as bad as you’ll see from a United team for quite some time,” Scholes said.
“The attitude has to be questioned again. The hunger, desire for the game to get against people just wasn’t there.
“Effort is the first thing you expect from a Manchester United players. They’re not showing that they’re good enough.”
Scholes is absolutely right. There was no movement when United’s midfield picked up the ball. Paul Pogba, in particular, was seen looking frustrated as he had no options to play the ball to.
United were so static in possession, and hardly put pressure on West Ham when out of possession. It was a shocking performance and the blame lies with manager Mourinho as well as the players. The start to this season is now as bad as the start to United’s season under David Moyes.
