Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho have reportedly held ‘clear the air’ talks about the player’s Manchester United future.
The French midfielder has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona in recent weeks, and players and staff of the Spanish giants have spoken about the Man United man in glowing terms.
It’s a tactic similar to the one that they employed when pursuing then-Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho. He now plays in the blue and red of Barcelona.
Reports indicated that United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was adamant that he would not sell Pogba to anyone, let alone Barcelona, in the summer.
The Daily Mirror now reports that Pogba and United boss Mourinho have made an agreement that they will not talk about his future until next summer.
“It is understood Pogba has since held talks with Mourinho about his predicament,” the Mirror writes, “and reached an understanding whereby all talk of his future is on hold until at least next summer.”
The English newspaper suggest that Pogba and Mino Raiola have explored the possibility of an exit, the player now accepts that there will be no movement until next summer.
That should mean, therefore, that there is no Coutinho-style January move to Barcelona.
However, it’s not exactly a positive for United fans. At this point in time, it seems only a matter of time before Pogba leaves Old Trafford for pastures new.
