Luke Shaw reveals the Manchester United man leading Reds in the dressing room

Luke Shaw has praised Paul Pogba as a leader in the dressing room after a true captain’s performance for Manchester United in a 3-0 win against Young Boys.

Pogba took Wednesday evening’s game by the scruff the new k as Man United opened their UEFA Champions League campaign in the 2018/19 season with a comfortable victory in Switzerland.

The Reds started looking vulnerable on the astro-turf pitch, but Pogba netted a brace before half-time, including a fine strike fro outside the box, and Jose Mourinho’s team never looked in danger after that.

Shaw, who has had a brilliant start to the season himself, hailed his teammate’s display as captain on the evening.

“He gets some stick sometimes but we know what quality he has,” Shaw told BT Sport.

“For me he’s one of the best in the world.

“He’s very important for our team being captain, in the dressing room and on the pitch today. Long may that continue. I think he was good against Watford too.”

Shaw is correct to point out his Watford performance, too. It’s two very solid games from Pogba in a row, something which has been an issue in his three seasons at Old Trafford.

United fans have been treated to some stunning displays of Pogba’s quality since he re-signed from Juventus in 2016, but have rarely seen him impress consistently in a red shirt.

Pogba will start for Mourinho again on Saturday as United host Wolves at Old Trafford, and doesn’t need to put in a world class performance, but another good showing is all that can be asked for. If he can steadily build throughout the season, United have a far greater chance in all competitions than last time out.
