Luke Shaw reassured Manchester United supporters that he was “fine” and would be “back soon” after suffering a nasty collision with Dani Carvalhal in Spain’s 2-1 win over England last night.
The 23-year-old, making his first international start since 2015, performed superbly at Wembley down the left hand side and laid on a wonderful assist for Marcus Rashford.
Shaw had to be taken off early in the second half, however, after a grim looking clash with Carvalhal, which left him on the floor for almost ten minutes.
But the Englishman took to social media to claim he was doing just fine after what looked like a potentially dangerous injury.
Thank you for all the love and support I am doing fine and am in the best hands. I’m a fighter so I will be back soon!

That Shaw was “awake and alert”, as confirmed by the England Twitter account, quite soon after the collision happened is an extremely positive thing. There were concerns of something deeper and more serious as he lay on the Wembley turf. Privately, some may have thought back to the injury suffered by Ryan Mason for Hull City, and the damaging ramifications that collision brought to his career.
But it looks like Shaw, unlike in 2015 when he broke his leg in the middle of a purple patch, will return sooner rather than later under Jose Mourinho.
