Chelsea star Eden Hazard claims he has ‘retired’ his famed knee slide celebration, citing adverse after effects as the reason behind the move.
Knee slide celebrations have long been the bane of football managers, with the slick slide proving to be a dangerous way to top off a goal.
While Hazard’s slide was on display on Wednesday, after the Belgium international scored a superb solo goal against Liverpool in the EFL Cup, the 27-year old is ready to give up the move.
Talking about the move to Chelsea TV, as quoted by Goal, Hazard said:
Look, look, the celebration – the sliding knee. I need to stop this.
My knees – they are on fire! No more of this celebration.
Hazard’s early season form has been scintillating for the Blues, with the Belgian having already scored five and assisted two goals in the Premier League.
However he decides to celebrate, Chelsea fans will be hoping he continues to score this season, with the Blues keen on reclaiming the Premier League title.
