Manchester United star Diogo Dalot has made himself available to the first team by insisting he’s ready to play whenever Jose Mourinho thinks so.
The youngster was one of his manager’s three signings of the summer and was stated to be Antonio Valencia‘s heir.
Dalot can play on either flank but is expected to take over from the Ecuadorian eventually in the future.
Mourinho has yet to play the Portuguese as he recovered from an injury but after he featured in an U23 fixture, he’s raring to go.
It’s unlikely the former Real Madrid boss will throw his player right into the deep-end but fans would love to see their new signing in action.
According to Manchester Evening News, Diogo said to the club’s official website: “I always had it on my mind that I had to be calm, take it step by step, because the injury was not too bad but it required some patience and I needed that.
“Now I am here and I am ready to play whenever the coach thinks I am ready.”
Supporters who watched the U23 fixture Dalot played in were impressed with his attacking talents down the right flank.
Since he suffered a knee injury, it’s likely the defender will have to build his fitness up before being given the opportunity for his debut.
With Valencia currently fit and starting as well, there’s no real reason for Jose to risk Diogo getting a recurring injury by playing him too early.
There’s plenty of time for the former Porto player to make his mark on the first-team but he’ll have to put in one hell of a fight to win the right-back spot.
