Last night, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made his long-awaited European debut for Arsenal in the 4-2 win over Vorskla Poltava.
The Gabon striker grabbed two goals as the Gunners got their Europa League campaign off to a good start.
Aubameyang could only watch as Arsenal were knocked out in the semi-finals of the competition last season and now, the 29-year-old has revealed that he wants to go one better this year.
“Of course [we want to win it],” Aubameyang said after the match.
“specially for me because I didn’t play in the Europa League last year and I am really happy to be back in this competition.
“We want to go to the final of course, it is an objective and hopefully we will do well in our next games.”
Victory in the Europa League and a decent Premier League campaign would mark an impressive first season for head coach Unai Emery. The Gunners have some outstanding players and will be hoping to go far in this European competition.
