Ruben Loftus-Cheek will miss both of Chelsea’s games against Liverpool this week, according to a report from Matt Law of The Telegraph.
The England international returned from international duty with a lower leg injury and Chelsea gave him an injection at the weekend, hoping that the intervention would help with his rehabilitation.
However, the midfielder’s injury has seemingly not responded to the treatment as well as the Blues hoped and as such, he’s set to be sidelined for another week.
That means that the 22-year-old will not play at Anfield on Wednesday evening, or at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
In truth, Chelsea would have needed to have somewhat of an injury crisis in order for Loftus-Cheek to play at the weekend, but there was a very good chance of him playing in the League Cup game as Maurizio Sarri is expected to make plenty of changes for that game.
The Blues are also likely to be without Antonio Rudiger and Pedro for both games against the Reds.
