Neville predicts Mourinho's tactics vs Tottenham

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has attempted to predicted the tactics Jose Mourinho will use against Tottenham Hotspurs.

The Portuguese boss will surely attempt to reinvigorate his side following the shock loss to Brighton on Sunday evening.

United take on Spurs next just before the international break and will be hoping to bounce back from the 3-2 defeat they just suffered.

With Mourinho already under heavy pressure with betting companies even claiming he’s favourite to lose his job first, he could be tempted to switch things up tactically.

The Red Devils played a 4-3-3 formation against Brighton just as they have done all pre-season long this summer.

According to Manchester Evening News, Gary said on his podcast: “I think it [result vs Brighton] will force Manchester United and Jose Mourinho to go three at the back [against Spurs].

“I think, with the centre-backs he’s got, he will resort to that. When I look at the centre-back partnerships that he had at Chelsea, they had power and strength in his teams. He hasn’t got that here yet.”

Neville’s assessment may well come true and it’s a formation change that could very well be necessary.

Though no one is faultless following last weekend’s loss, the midfielders and attackers are almost afraid to do anything in case the defence is exposed.

A five man backline may help give security to the defenders as well as the rest of the team to go on and perform.

A win against Tottenham would see Manchester United immediately get back on track rather than see fans mope around for the whole international break.

Three points aren’t just needed but are necessary if Jose wants any hope at a title shot and to end doubt over his future.
