Sam Allardyce has claimed Manchester United star Anthony Martial isn’t good enough for the club, angering supporters.
The Frenchman came to Old Trafford during Louis van Gaal‘s era but has failed to kick on since his debut season.
Martial’s future at United is under threat with reports emerging he’s had a breakdown in his relationship with Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager is said to have become increasingly frustrated with the youngster’s inconsistencies and poor attitude.
Former England manager Allardyce is clearly not a fan of the former AS Monaco man and believes he should be moved on.
According to Manchester Evening News, Sam said: “I’d say you look at Van Gaal who brought in Martial, and it doesn’t matter who the manager is, Martial is not good enough for Manchester United.
“If you want to be super critical and look at the players that he’s (Mourinho) got, he is not the player that they thought were getting or could develop in.”
With the transfer windows around Europe still active, Anthony could yet depart if a large enough bid comes in for him.
The 22 year old arguably has far too many competitors in the positions he’s capable of playing in such as the left wing and striker positions.
Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku are all Martial’s positional rivals which could see him hardly gain any match-time this season.
However, should he show any sign of consistent form then there’s no doubt he’ll get his chance under Mourinho, especially if someone suffers an injury that could leave the position free for the taking.
