Moyes predicts where Man United will be by winter

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has predicted the club to in first place by the end of November due to their ‘easy’ start.

Jose Mourinho’s side kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 win against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Friday night.

United were under tremendous pressure to deliver a result following their relatively poor transfer window where only one major signing was made.

Moyes though believes despite the complications of the summer, the club should still be in first place since they wouldn’t have faced any top sides by the end of November.

The Red Devils soon face Tottenham before the first international break of the season and will face Chelsea in October with Manchester City later in November.

According to Manchester Evening News, David said: “But if you look at the games that Manchester United play in the first nine or 10 games, you’re not playing a City, an Arsenal, a Chelsea in that period.

“I wonder if Jose’s words the other day, ‘Let’s wait until the end of November’, I would be very surprised if United weren’t top of the league come the end of November.

“I think that the fixtures that have come out for them and the way it’s worked, I think will give them every opportunity to be there.”

To be fair to the Scotsman, Manchester United do have a not so difficult first few games to the season but it’s against such sides they struggled last season.

Mourinho’s record against the top six was actually pretty decent in the last campaign but it was their failure to get wins against so called weak sides that ultimately costed them.

There are no longer straightforward matches in the Premier League but if United can show better consistency than last season, they may actually find themselves in first place.
