Marcus Rashford has received high praise from England team-mate Raheem Sterling whilst they are in Russia for the 2018 World Cup.
Both forwards were selected in Gareth Southgate’s youthful 23-man squad for the tournament this summer and contributed as England qualified second in Group G behind Belgium.
England kicked off the campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over Tunisia in Volgograd before a 6-1 mauling of Panama in Nizhny Novgorod and an unfortunate 1-0 loss to Roberto Martinez’ Belgians on Thursday in Kaliningrad.
Rashford came off the bench in the nation’s opener and made a terrific impact as Harry Kane snatched stoppage time winner, and he then started up front alongside Jamie Vardy against Belgium.
Manchester City star Sterling has spoken very highly of Rashford, telling the England YouTube channel: “He has one of the best right foots I have ever seen. The way he hits a ball is just frightening to be honest.”
That is a phenomenal compliment considering Sterling has spent his career playing with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero at Liverpool and Man City.
Both men could be used in England’s anticipated round of 16 clash at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow, where Group H winners Colombia will also be fighting to play a favourable quarter-final against either Sweden or Switzerland.
After the World Cup is over, Rashford and Sterling will go back to reality and go back to being Premier League rivals ahead of the 2018-19 season.
