Man United star Mata eyes Spain return

Manchester United star Juan Mata eyes a return to Spain, stating he’s excited at the possibility of representing his country once again.

The playmaker hasn’t been a regular first team player for his nation for quite some time and was left out of the squad that was take to the World Cup.

However, the Spaniards have hired former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique to manage them following their shock exit this summer and Mata sees it as an opportunity.

The attacking midfielder has impressed since joining United under David Moyes management but never seems to have been a favourite of any of his national bosses.

The former Valencia man even won over the manager who initially allowed him to move to Old Trafford in Jose Mourinho so there’s certainly a chance he can do the same for the international team.

According to the Daily Mail, Juan said to ESPN: “I’m again excited about the possibility of coming back [to Spain].

“I obviously want to come back and try to play as many games as I can with the national team.

“I’m really excited about it and I think the future, it can be still bright for Spain, because we have young players coming [through] that, as I said, they have the level to compete.

“We have some senior players that have been there for some years and we have the experience, so I think it’s a good mix and hopefully it can be a good future for Spanish football.”

Spain consistently have a range of top talent at their disposal and it was always a matter of finding a manager who can bring the best out of the group.

Unfortunately the recent instability hasn’t helped the nation but there’s hope Enrique can be the man to help them restore their stature.
