Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini has issued a rallying call to his Belgian teammates following their incredible comeback win against Japan and ahead of their clash with Brazil.
The European nation found themselves trailing 2-0 with not too much time to work with but fought back to win 3-2 through efforts from Jan Vertonghen, Nacer Chadli and the United midfielder.
Their crucial win means they’ll face a Brazilian side who look like they’re on a mission themselves and are amongst the tournament’s favourites.
Fellaini may not start in that quarter final clash but he’s certainly given his manager a selection headache following his goalscoring display from the bench.
Just as at Old Trafford, the former Everton man offers a very useful alternative to the usual tactics and certainly plays his part in his country’s bid for World Cup glory.
According to the Telegraph, Marouane said: “We’re more mature than before. We’ve been working together for a long time now, you can’t forget that, and want to show everyone what we can do against Brazil.”
Some Manchester United fans were disappointed that Fellaini renewed his contract with the club after it was just days away from running out.
Their argument is that the club can do far better than the Belgian and some pointed to Portugal’s William Carvalho as a cheap alternative who’s better.
Nonetheless, it was clearly Jose Mourinho’s desire to renew Marouane’s contract and only time will tell whether it was a correct decision or not.
