Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis will leave the club for AC Milan in January (via Di Marzio).
It’s one of the last stories which Arsenal fans would have expected to hear in this summer but it seems as if Ivan Gazidis could soon leave the club.
The club’s chief executive has played a major role in the post-Arsene Wenger transition era after spending almost a decade at the Emirates.
Gazidis was instrumental in appointing this new setup at the club which features Sven Mislintat and Raul Sanllehi in prominent roles.
However, it seems as if Gazidis will not see how this new setup performs with reports that he is close to joining AC Milan.
The reports have been floating around for over a week but have today been given further credit from Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian journalist has claimed on his website that Gazidis will take over as AC Milan’s executive director in September.
It’s a strange story and something which will surprise many Arsenal fans. Ivan Gazidis has seemingly been in a power battle with Arsene Wenger for a number of years and it looked as if he had finally won it. The timing is strange and if this move does go through, we can certainly suspect that there is far more going on behind the scenes with regards to Ivan Gazidis’ role in the club than we are aware of.
