Atalanta appear to have pipped Fiorentina to the loan signing of Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic.
The 23-year-old has been a man in demand throughout the course of the summer transfer window so far and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta are closing in on a season-long loan move for the player.
Pasalic spent the duration of the recently-concluded campaign in Russia with Spartak Moscow but is now set to return to Serie A, where he spent the previous season during a loan spell with AC Milan.
The Croatian midfielder is deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge for now and it’s claimed by Gazzetta dello Sport that Pasalic will join in an initial loan deal with an option for Atalanta to purchase.
It’s believed that the cost of activating this buyout clause will be priced at €15 million, as Pasalic prepares to head out for his fifth loan spell away from Chelsea since his arrival at the club in 2014.
