Petr Cech has vowed to stay at Arsenal and fight for his starting spot despite interest in the veteran stopper from abroad (via Goal.com).
He may be approaching the end of his career but Petr Cech has insisted that his playing days aren’t over at Arsenal just yet.
The 36-year-old has just finished his third season at the club but his performance levels have dropped in recent months.
This has, in part, led to the recent acquisition of Bernd Leno but Cech has vowed to remain at the club despite some interest from abroad.
“My contract with Arsenal still has a year to run,” Cech told journalists in the Czech Republic.
“The only thing I’m preparing for is the fight for the No. 1 spot in goal.
“Napoli were interested but my future is at Arsenal. I didn’t think of changing clubs.”
It’s good to hear that Petr Cech is willing to remain at the club. He is a hugely experienced player and will add a lot to the squad, especially as a mentor-like figure to the younger Bernd Leno.
