Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that Mason Greenwood must “learn the man’s game” after the youngster scored for Manchester United during a 3-0 win over Partizan Belgrade on Thursday.
The youngster produced a lively first half display and scored the opener with a clinical finish from Marcus Rashford‘s fizzing pass into the box.
Greenwood now has three senior goals to his name after five starts for United, but supporters want to see him play more – or at least more than, say, Jesse Lingard or Ashley Young.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer explained why that could not be the case at this moment in time.

The Norwegian is spot on here, bringing a youngster back down to earth after he scored another goal at senior level.
In the box, Greenwood was a remarkable natural eye for where the goal is – a metric, titled the ‘KWTGIG’ (Knows Where The Goal Is Gradient), that I think we need to see more of in football writing and discourse in general – but his knowledge of the complex patterns across the pitch and absorbing and applying tactical instructions remains… elementary.
To be a good striker at this level, you have to be adept all over the pitch, not just in the box. This will take time for Greenwood, but at the age of 18, he has plenty of time to learn.
