Jack Wilshere could soon join Fenerbahce after his Arsenal exit, according to ESPN (via ESPN).
It’s rare for English players to play abroad but one former Arsenal man could do just that after leaving the club over the weekend.
Jack Wilshere’s contract expired on the weekend and is now free to join whichever club he likes and there is one club in the frame.
Reports suggest that Turkish side Fenerbahce are the frontrunners to sign the player amid reports that Wilshere has been spotted in the country.
“I am willing to go abroad if the right opportunity comes up. Also, everyone knows I like the Premier League and the battle of it,” Wilshere said when asked about the possibility of playing abroad.
“It is literally the best thing that comes up and the best opportunity that we will take. I am not really in any rush, today [Saturday] is actually my last day with my contract at Arsenal, so it’s been a bit of a strange day.
“I have played 10 years as a professional there and had 17 years at the club. We are looking at things and I am keeping myself fit. So if something does come up I am ready to go.”
It would be fascinating to see how Jack Wilshere got in Turkey. He is obviously a hugely talented player who hasn’t fulfilled his ultimate potential but perhaps a move abroad could change that.
