Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has backed Manchester United’s Paul Pogba to play a big role for France in the ongoing World Cup in Russia.
The versatile attacker himself has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer to team up with his international teammate but has recently announced his intentions to once again remain in Spain.
Griezmann was quite likely going to join United before Madrid’s transfer ban saw him remain loyal to the club that helped him rise to superstardom.
Unfortunately for the Frenchman, Jose Mourinho grabbed an opportunity to sign Alexis Sanchez for free and was no longer in need of signing a top quality winger.
Pogba meanwhile has long been touted to become a captain for club and country in the future and the 27 year old backed his friend to do so for his nation.
Griezmann: “We’re expecting big things from Paul, all his touches of brilliance and his long-range goals. We’re expecting him to get the crowd on their feet. There isn’t a leader in the side, but when Paul talks, everyone listens.” #mufc [FIFA] pic.twitter.com/ILxcoK2Caq

There’s no hiding the talented midfielder’s talent as he’s certainly one of the best in the world in his position but concerns have been raised over his consistency.
A leader or a captain has to consistently be there for their team by constantly proving their worth, especially during crucial moments and so is that something Paul can do for club and country? Time will tell.
