Manchester United are yet to make an approach to sign Juventus left-back Alex Sandro this summer, contrary to reports stating that talks are at an advanced stage.
Sandro is thought to be Jose Mourinho’s top target to become first-choice right-back next season as Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian all face uncertain futures at Old Trafford.
There is a defensive revamp taking place at Man United over the transfer window with a right, left and centre-back all expected to arrive ahead of the 2018-19 season.
Sky Sport’s Fabrizio Romano has halted United supporters’ excitement for now though, stating that the club hasn’t actually moved for Sandro yet, despite the clear interest in his services.
However, whether an approach to Juventus regarding Sandro’s availability is expected to be made over the next couple of months is a different story and the Serie A champions’ inevitable offering of a new contract could be what is putting United off at this moment in time.
Plenty of players have used United as a mechanism to get themselves an improved deal at their clubs over the years, so it’ll be interesting to see what the Brazilian does.
The first defensive capture is set to be announced this week, with 19-year-old FC Porto right-back Diogo Dalot pencilled in for a medical ahead of a €20m move to provide competition for Antonio Valencia.
