Negotiations between Manchester United and Juventus over the transfer of Matteo Darmian have stalled because of a disagreement about his value, according to reports.
The Serie A champions are still favourites for Darmian’s signature but will have to pay more than initially planned if they are to acquire the Italy international this summer.
Darmian’s appearances have decreased by the season since joining from Torino in 2015 and he only featured on 17 occasions throughout the 2017-18 campaign, with many recognising his dire showing in Man United’s humiliating 2-1 defeat at Bristol City as the fatal blow to his career at the club.
However, the ever-reliable Gianluca Di Marzio reports that he may have to wait a little longer than preferred to be sold on this over the fee Juventus are willing to pay for his services.
According to Di Marzio, Darmian is free to join another club after asking to leave Old Trafford during the current transfer window but his main suitors’ valuation is thought to be €8m lower than United’s.
United are asking for €20m to take the 28-year-old off their hands, but Juventus are not prepared to offer more than €12m which leaves negotiations at a stand-still.
It is still expected that Darmian will leave United before the 2018-19 starts, whether that be to Juve or another outfit, but it doesn’t look like a move will be completed in the near future.
