Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has revealed that the England camp is in the most relaxed mood he’s experienced since joining the international set up.
The Three Lions have notoriously been too tense and under too much pressure to perform even during their ‘Golden Generation’ days but it appears they’ve finally learnt their lesson.
The English media tend to make matters worse as well and though they attempted to do so with their attack on Raheem Sterling, it seems as though it was just water off a duck’s back to the squad.
Rashford himself was also in a more confident mood, scoring in a pre-World Cup friendly that impressed even the nation’s rivals, hopefully a sign of what’s to come from him.
The striker may have the opportunity to line up alongside Tottenham’s Harry Kane, whom he’s fond of, forming a deadly duo that could certainly take the competition by storm.
According to the Telegraph, Marcus said: “As you can see everyone’s quite relaxed and that’s been a massive part of it. I remember leading up to the Euros it wasn’t as relaxed, and there was a lot more tension – and we all know what happened.
“You always keep disappointments like that with you, because you never want to feel them again, so being more relaxed this time is definitely a lot better and it’s something new. All the lads are taking it in their stride.
“The difference is we have had slightly longer to prepare (for the World Cup). I’m more experienced now and a lot more comfortable than I was, around the boys. And that can put you in good stead.”
Rashford’s certainly got no pressure on his shoulders to lead his nation to the World Cup but he is expected to provide the necessary spark when things aren’t going their way.
There’s hope the youngster can grab himself a few goals and gain some important experience in order to return to United in good form.
